No two W/C paintings are ever the same, this makes a very unique and individual outcome. Each painting will inspire you to experiment further. Beware, Water Colour painting is addictive! " />
Watercolour PaintingLesson 4: TRANQUILLITYALMOST PROFILEStep 1. Hot press paper-medium coarseness was used. The paper was wet and allowed to dry, and then the features sketched in lightly. Step 2. A light wash of Naples Yellow was washed over the face, allowing touches of White to show through around the eyes, mouth and side of face. Step 3. A Reddish Brown was painted into the shadow area and also the hair. Step 4. Cadmium Red was painted into the cheeks and also the lips. Leave white to show through as the highlight on the bottom and top lips. Note: The top lip is deeper in tone. Step 5. Pale Green tone was painted in around the mouth and chin area. Green was used to paint the eyes. Step 6. Yellow was washed into the hair. Step 7. Detail the hair with Brown; also the eyelashes, nostrils, corners of the mouth and brows. Step 8. Paint the background in Light Green, with added tones of Yellow and Brown. Bring the colour up to the hairline but not quite to the side of the face. Did you feel tranquility as you painted the roses? Maybe painting the faces gave you a feeling of calm? Feel like a change; how about a different approach? |
