Lesson 4: Lesson 4: Making Your Scrapbook

Section 3: Assembling the elements

You’re now ready to begin adhering your page elements. Position your items one last time to be doubly sure you know where you want them. Carefully apply your adhesive, making sure that none of your tabs or splits peek out from behind. Carefully apply the pieces one at a time, minding your positioning and spacing.

Now, you’re ready to add embellishments. Stickers are self-adhesive and generally speaking, once they’re down, they’re down. Carefully test positioning before removing them from their protective backing. Once you’re sure of placement, hold the sticker by the ends and apply the sticker carefully.

The last step is the most important. Your page title is the first thing people notice and your journaling box preserves precious memories and details for generations to come! Regardless of what medium you’re using for your title, practice the same caution as with your other page elements. Before you adhere the title to the page, try it in several different positions. Once you’ve decided on the perfect placement, adhere your title.

Your journaling is the second only to photographs in terms of importance. You certainly want to address the who, what, when, where, and why, of the pictures, but include other details as well. Some small detail today, is a priceless piece of memory decades later. Don’t feel as though you must complete the journaling right then, and, thus, scribble down something quickly. Many scrappers leave their journaling for later and journal several pages in a sitting. Many scrappers handwrite their journaling, while others do all their journaling on their computer. It’s a personal choice. Whatever makes you the most comfortable and produces the best record of your memories is the best choice.

Viola! You have just completed your first scrapbook page! You’re ready to begin your journey of the art of scrapbooking and preserving your family’s history and memories. Good luck!
