Lesson 8: Multigenerational Travel

Food

As for transportation and accommodations, group rates are also often available for food. Also make sure to take advantage of discounts for each age group. Further, be aware of issues for each age group.

Be especially aware of dietary issues with the multigenerational groups. Making meals is one option. This can be undertaken either communally or in smaller nuclear family groups. The advantage to cooking communally is that everyone gets to visit while they eat. I have found that taking turns cooking, working together, or potluck meals are good communal meal making options.

Another alternative for multigenerational groups is eating at a family restaurant or food fair. In this way, everyone can order his or her own choices. Furthermore, there is no cleanup. However, if your group is quite large, you may want to make reservations in advance.
