Lesson 3: Traveling with Children

Vacation Ideas

The type of vacation your child can go on depends greatly on your child's personality. If he or she loves adventure and is quite physical by all means take him or her to an amusement park, theme park, camping, to a farm, on a ski vacation, on a bicycle adventure, or golf vacation. It is of note, that some adventure tour packages will not allow children to join until they are ten or twelve.

If your child loves to learn things take him or her on educational adventures. These adventures could include science museums, dinosaur museums, zoos, living history museums, festivals, or informal sightseeing tours. However, do not take your child on formal tours. It is better to use your child's interest as a gauge for visits rather than your tour leader's rigid schedule.

If your child doesn’t like change, take him or her on a camping trip, to a farm, visiting relatives, to a rented house on the lake, or on a cruise. If you do take your child on a cruise make sure you check out the children's activities before you book. The extent of children's activities on cruises can range from nothing to multiple scheduled activities for children of various ages.
