Lesson 1: Traveling with Babies

Vacation Ideas

As long as you keep your baby's regular schedule in mind, your imagination is the only limit for a vacation with your baby. Therefore, schedule breaks around your baby's regular feeding time. Plan a rest stop in a park during your baby's playtime. Plan energetic activities during your baby's regular naptime. Also take advantage of the rocking motion of walking, cars, buses, and trains during your baby's cranky times.

Further, the earlier you train your baby for various vacation types, the less resistant they will be in the future. For instance, I took my kids camping from the time they were newborn. By the time they were in school, they were quite comfortable using an outhouse, sleeping in a tent, taking long hikes, and catching minnows. Even as teenagers, no matter how embarrassed they are to be seen with me, my children still readily go camping and hiking.
