In this second half of week 3's lesson, we're going to focus almost entirely on the creation of WebQuests; what makes a good WebQuest? Where do we find materials? How do we pull one together? Just a few of the answers we'll get to, on our own quest to create an original WebQuest that will be ready for use in our own classrooms. The importance of tools like WebQuests in the classroom can not be overestimated. By giving a student responsibility for their own learning, we empower them to take control of their education - and realize that they do have a choice about how well they do in school. This element of choice has been shown to inspire learners across the learning-style spectrum, creating better grades and higher attendance, just to name a few. By creating our own WebQuests, we are engaging ourselves directly in the design of what our students learn - and how they access that learning, dissect its elements, and retain its meanings.
