Lesson 2: Restriction Questions
Who is Coming
The final restriction is Who is Coming. Basically, this category defines who,if anyone, will accompany you on your vacation and the particular issues of each partcipant.
On the same piece of paper as you did the previous exercise write the title “Who Is Coming”. Write down everyone accompanying you on your vacation. If someone will accompany you for only part of the trip note this down as well. Don’t forget pets.
You may want to write a few notes behind each person. These notes are meant to draw your attention to potential problems. Look particularly at age (baby, child, teen, adult, or senior) as well as specific issues such as abilities, sleeping, eating, comfort, transportation, medical difficulties, and phobias.
For instance, you may want to write "child" behind your niece’s name or "senior" behind your Great Aunt’s name, or "afraid of heights" behind your best friend’s name. In this way, when you start planning your trip you will not book flights to Australia for you and your best friend or expect your five year old son to enjoy a meal at a posh restaurant.
Once you have written your list of all participants on your vacation and their appropriate potential issue notes, you can star or highlight particularly important notes. You may want to even write a small summary of important potential issues at the bottom of your page. In this way, you will know what issues your trip must address.
If any of the people on your list have any formal or informal commitments, add these commitments to your existing commitment list. Again, don’t forget to write the type of commitment as well as the place, time, and date.
You may want to star or highlight important commitments. Again, if you have quite a few commitments that you may want to organize these according to date and time. You may even want to insert these into a chart.
