Travel Planning

Lesson 1: Travel Planning

What you Need

For every trip that you undertake you will probably have some sort of commitments, restrictions, or special considerations. You may need to attend a meeting while you are on your business trip. You may have to make a travel plan that includes your entire family. You many have a $200 budget. You may only have two weeks for a vacation. These are the things that you must do or keep in mind during your travel planning. These are your needs.

I call questions pertaining to these needs Restriction Questions. Restriction Questions include How much money do you want to spend? How long of a vacation can you take? Why are you traveling? Who is coming? The answers to these questions will set the boundaries and the tone of your entire trip. More importantly though, planning with these questions in the back of your mind will reduce the likelihood of travel tragedies. You’ll be less likely to miss your out of town job interview because you scheduled a tour of the city at the exact same time. You won’t plan a romantic weekend for you and your significant other at the family reunion. You won’t schedule six months worth of activities for a two-week trip. You won’t plan an African safari with that $50 vacation fund.
