Lesson 6: How does a Christian Parent deal with Dating, Sex, Drugs, and Violence?

Bibliography & Assignment:

Shepherding a Child's Heart: Parent's Handbook, by Tedd Tripp

Something to think about:

  1. Do you remember your own teenage years, filled with insecurity, aching to fit in, assaulted by bodily changes that went beyond logical explanation, and emotional ups and downs? Do these memories help you to relate better to your child(ren)? Or do you think they make it harder?
  2. How do you communicate to your child(ren) that you love them? Do they “hear” you?
  3. What are your child(ren)’s talents and how do you nurture these talents?
  4. Do you find yourself acting differently at church than you are at home? Do you ever find yourself telling your child(ren) not to “tell” (friends, church members, relatives) about what is going on at home?
