Houseplants Under LightsLesson 1: Natural lighting vs. Artificial LightingIs Your Plant Receiving Too Much or Too Little Light?Section 3: Is Your Plant Receiving Too Much or Too Little Light? Do you have a plant that appears sickly? It may be telling you a story about the light it is receiving. Signs of too little light: The plant just sits without showing any growth. This is particularly a problem in succulents. Alternatively, a succulent receiving too little light may simply grow out of proper shape. The plant leaves turn yellow or brown and the plant slowly dies. Plant dropping lower leaves is also a sign of too little leaves. If the leaves are smaller than normal or spread apart on the stems, the plant is telling you it needs more light. Signs of too much light: The leaves develop pale yellow or white spots from being bleached by the sun. Leaves dry up even though the soil is moist. Leaves curl away from the light source.
