Lesson 4: What You Need...

Weight Loss and Weight Gain

The Issue of Weight Loss: Weight loss is necessary if you have a high BMR (basal metabolic rate). An unwanted fat deposit in our body not only harms our look but also affects our health. Those wishing to lose weight should not make temporary life-style changes, but they should do it on a permanent basis so that they maintain themselves on a healthy weight scale-range. Let me tell you that there is no such thing as a perfect diet program. Everybody is unique and hence has different requirements. Follow the basic needs and avoid what you can avoid and adopt a positive attitude towards your health.

These are your keys to a healthy weight loss. Chew your food thoroughly. Drink plenty of water (2-3 quarts per day). Have plenty of fruits and vegetables. Increase your physical activities. Go out for a walk, join a health club and go swimming. Never go shopping with an empty stomach as when you go outside, you come across tempting foods. A diet rich in fiber is excellent for weight loss. For best utilization of calories, eat foods early during the day. Avoid fats. Go ahead for food combining. It has proven to have excellent results related to weight loss and maintenance. Never go for crash diets. Go for programmes that will help you lose weight on a steady basis. A steady weight loss is an approach to living healthy.

Those wishing to lose weight should consume only 1000-1800 calories per day. Try Yoga and other breathing exercises. Natural methods of reducing weight involve adopting healthier and natural lifestyle. Try to experiment yourself with all kinds of foods. Try making healthier foods by your own as you desire according to your taste. There is no such thing as spot-reducing diets or spot-weight reduction programs. Weight loss is one of the nutrition-based health issues, which are mostly caused by imbalanced diets and improper eating habits. Instead of crying your way out of obesity, eat your way out of obesity by adopting the above measures.

The Issue of Weight gain: This also results from a poor diet and eating habits and therefore, proper weight with the proper height must be followed. For weight gain, I don’t recommend people to eat junk food, but instead have a healthy diet along with nutritional supplements. Nutritional supplements help to a great extent. Increasing the portions of meals and having adequate sleep and rest is another way to a healthy weight gain.

Those wishing to gain weight should aim at consuming at least 2500-3500 calories per day. A tasty advice for the mango and banana lovers, have mango and banana milk shakes as much as you can. Please refer to this file if you would like to calculate your basal metabolic rate.
