I am sure you remember the story of the Trojan War. While trying to invade the city of Troy the Trojans decided to build a giant wooden horse and offer it to the citizens of Troy as a peace offering. Except that the Trojan warriors had hidden inside the body of the wooden horse and when the people of Troy took the horse into the city the soldiers were within the walls of the city ensuring the fall of Troy. Trojan horses in computers are very similar they look like programs you want, you download them, you choose to run them, but then everything goes wrong. With Trojan horses you must choose to infect your computer, they cannot self-replicate. A common type Trojan horse program is a game cheater utility used to bypass the security used to ensure that you have the original game CD and not a copy, quite often these contain a "Back Door Virus". While not technically a virus, they are damaging, Back Door Viruses allow the sender to have access to your system.
