Lesson 4: Homework Help on the InternetOnline ResourcesThere are so many online resources for your children to use that it would be impossible to list them all. Here are some that I've found to be useful. General Help Sites Great Web Sites for Kids: http://www.ala.org/Content/NavigationMen... This is a joint site by the American Library Association and the Association for Library Service to Children. It features a site of the month, and links to other sites arranged by subject area. It is very easy to access and each link is annotated to give you an idea of the kind of material it contains! Awesome Library: http://www.awesomelibrary.org/ At this writing, Awesome Library has reviewed 22,000 resources. They are arranged by subject, and there are "doors" for teachers, kids, teens, parents, librarians and college students. IT is a great resource for teachers and students. Blue Web'n: http://www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/bluewebn/ Blue Web'n is online library of over 1,700 Blue Ribbon education sites categorized by subject, grade level, and format. You can search by grade level, content area, or specific subject areas. Reference Sites Merriam-Webster Online: http://www.m-w.com/ An online dictionary that lets you look up words, find synonyms and play word games. Great in a pinch when your dictionary or thesaurus aren't handy! Encyclopedia.com: http://www.encyclopedia.com/ Encarta Encyclopedia Center: http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/refpages/a... Search over 4,500 articles online. Global Access to Educational Sources: http://www.geocities.com/jk02.geo/index6... A cyber-library with subject area links, current events, and teacher resources. General Homework Help Sites All of these sites are great sources for information. They are general sites, but contain links to many subject areas and other homework helps.
