Preconception 101Lesson 3: Tried and True Tips on Pregnancy AchievementFun Hints for Pregnancy AchievementOrgasm Nature has built in things that help the road to conception. It is nature’s built in way of insuring procreation. The man has to have an orgasm in order for conception to occur, no matter if it’s by the good old fashioned means or by IUI (intra-uterine insemination) or IVF (invitro fertilization). A man has to have an orgasm in order for pregnancy to occur. However with a woman this is very different. I’m sure there are countless women throughout human history who have never experienced one orgasm and yet had any number of children. If a woman does have an orgasm during ovulation it greatly increases her chance of conception, if there are no underlying problems with her fertility. An orgasm serves as a pro-creation means, not just a “pleasure” means. It is the built in guarantee that life will continue and makes it a fun way to keep it going! It’s fairly important to allow the man to reach orgasm first or at the same time. This is due to the fact that if the man ejaculates first, then the sperm are waiting at the cervix to be ushered into the uterus when the woman reaches orgasm. If the woman reaches orgasm first, sometimes the pH of the vagina is hostile to the sperm. If a woman has good quality fertile cervical fluid, this will help to keep the sperm alive thus helping the sperm to go on in. It’s important for a man to go “deep” into the vagina to make sure the sperm is deposited right at the cervix. When a woman reaches orgasm the blood flow to her uterus, ovaries and vagina are greatly increased. This is good and the spasms experienced in the cervix serves to help “suck up” the waiting sperm. It is probably better for a man to ejaculate first so that when the woman reaches orgasm the contractions and motions of the pelvic area will greatly help to usher the sperm in to the awaiting egg. A woman will have minor uterine contractions for some 20 minutes and it is a good thing for her to lay on her back allowing the sperm to travel up through the cervix and uterus and into the fallopian tubes. It’s not necessary for a woman to have an orgasm to get pregnant, it’s just nature’s way of pleasantly helping the matter out. RELAX Conception can sometimes take a while to happen. Enjoy the process. We were made to pro-create. Reproduction is an enjoyable and pleasurable experience. Take the time, along the road to parenthood, to enjoy every second of it. Making a baby, making love, is supposed to be a fun enjoyable experience. Relish the moments with your husband. When you are in the throes of dirty diapers and sleepless nights, when dried spit-up is a part of your outfit, when you obtain the wonderful title “Mother” you will look back at the process of getting there fondly - remembering the anticipation and the loving moments. All too soon it will change, when you see those double lines on that home pregnancy test. Your life will never again be the same. So roll with the process of “getting there”, enjoy it. Relax. |
