What does voice have to do with effective readings?
Acting Auditions 101Lesson 2: THE AUDITION.Walking the Walk: Part One.At the beginning of Lesson One, we discussed a baby's first year of life, in that the child takes a year to learn to walk (generally speaking -- you may have been an amazing baby and walked at ten months!). What did the baby encounter along the way? If the child had loving and supportive parents, I daresay they aided his or her path toward walking. Outstretched hands, cooing voices, and lots of hugs filled the baby's days. Other babies unfortunately are required to learn on their own and may be all the stronger for it. You are on a similar path toward walking a career-line of success in the acting world. You are not alone. Many are out there who are willing to stretch out their hands, nurture you with their voices, and hug you on the days you tumble. I am one of these who waits alongside your path, working to help you find success in your auditions. Just think: if a baby just lies in its crib, without attempting to rise, that child will never learn to walk -- no matter how many hands stretch out in aid toward him or her to help. So, too, with you. Only you can determined whether or not you will apply what you are learning from this course or other courses, books, or people. You have shown willingness to achieve successful auditions by signing up for this class and purchasing the necessary materials to help you in that path. I am excited for you! You show great promise by doing this and by studying diligently to apply your new knowledge. Continue to apply practical knowledge with discipline and you will achieve greater success than ever before. Not knowing you personally, you may already have achieved wonderfully in your auditions skills and now are working your final way up the mountainside toward an acting career of your choice.
