Lesson 3: Moon Signs

In Lesson Three we will delve into a subject that has long been controvesial - Moon Signs.

About Moon Signs

I have decided to speak about this matter in my herb gardening course although the information learned here can be transferred to any type of gardening, even growing house plants. I included it because I believe it to be an extremely important part of the cultivating and nurturing process. Call me old-fashioned, call me superstitious, but after you try this I think you will call me ‘right’.

If you will allow me a bit of personal history; my grandfather was of Native American descent. It was through him that I first learned of using moon signs, not just for gardening but for all phases of life. When I became an adult and pursued my yearning for growing things I did more research regarding moon signs. I would like to share some of my findings with you.

Astrology is a very old science and I doubt if there are any among you that are not familiar with the sun signs of the Zodiac. For our purpose we will deal with the twelve moon signs which correspond to the sun signs.

Moon sign science is based on the position of the moon and other planets with relation to various groups of star constellations. There are twelve of these star groups and in the moon’s travel across the skies it passes through each of these constellations in succession.

Each constellation has wet or dry tendencies. They are either barren or productive. They also have masculine or feminine characteristics. These attributes make their progress important to the planting, growing and harvesting cycles.
