Lesson 4: Mind and Body Balance.

A deep, heart-felt "thank you" to all of you who have shared with me, in the past two weeks, the beginning of the journey into the mysterious and fascinating world of aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is a holistic way of healing body and mind; holistic means "whole". We, as human beings, are closely interconnected to each other regardless of age, sex, or race; our connection does not stop there; we are also integral part of the environment and the environment is part of us.

Holistic healing requires, on our part, a deep understanding of our interdependence as a requirement for our balance and ultimate happiness. Being and keeping healthy, both mentally and physically, requires our compliance with the rules of the "wheel of life":

  • Eating a healthy diet

  • Practicing regular physical exercise at any age

  • Being active in our community by reaching out to the less fortunate

  • Spending time in close contact with nature

  • Cultivating our spiritual connection to the entire universe

  • Nurturing our family, friends, and neighbors with love and compassion

  • Nurturing our souls by setting aside some personal time, every day, to read, meditate, think and relax

I’d like for you to spend some time focusing on which of the above rules you find easy to comply with, and which ones require more determination on your part.

My wish, for all of you, is to be able to use what you learned in this class as a tool to discover something more about yourselves and the world around you.
