Aromatherapy Treatments for Eye, Nose and Throat
Every day, we are constantly exposed to germs. Children are even more prone than adults to airborne pathogens, since their immune system is still in development. Healthy lifestyle habits play a vital role in keeping us healthy and strong. A balanced diet, regular physical exercise, daily meditation and stress reduction practices, together with a nurturing emotional environment are all part of a well-balanced life and greatly influence the regular functioning of our immune system. Essential oils are particularly effective in treating infections because they stimulate the immune system, do not accumulate in the body, and do not create bacterial resistance. Instead of treating an ailment, they help the body heal itself. Among the most effective oils used to treat upper respiratory infections, there are basil, bergamot, benzoin, black pepper, clary sage, elemi, eucalyptus, frankincense, fennel, ginger, helichrysum, juniper, lemon, marjoram, myrrh, orange, pine, rosemary, rosewood, tea tree and, last but not least, the ever present thyme. Essential oils can help fight and treat upper respiratory infections in two different ways. They can either prevent us from getting sick, or speed up the recovery time by boosting our immune system. They can also ease and relieve the symptoms, thus allowing us to go through our illness with the least possible discomfort. Here is a list of the essential oils most commonly used in the treatment of seasonal illnesses, and some basic blends. Start by following the recipes included in this course and in the reference books you have purchased. Through practice and experience, you will then be able to develop your own unique blends.
