In this lesson we focused on some of the fun issues that are being developed within project management now, and will inform discussion well into the future. Specifically, we looked at:
Cross-Cultural Project Issues: learn to value and celebrate cultural diversity in your project world, and you'll be a better project manager (as well as a better person) as a result.
Non-I.T. Project Management: exists. I swear. I am living proof of this. Enter the world of project management and you'll see this for yourself; it is as applicable to redecorating your home, to planting a garden, to building Fantasy Island (smiles everyone, smiles).
Quality Issues: get cozy with these issues, because they dominate a great deal of dialogue within the field. Develop a strong understanding of quality, and emphasize it in your project work: both in word, and in deed.
Of course, these three issues are but a small sample of the fun discussions that you'll participate in throughout your career. But these happen to be my three current favourites.
Yes, I do get out a lot (but they keep bringing me back).
Questions for Consideration:
1. Do you have any experience in cross-cultural project management? Or just cross-cultural work in general? Please share those experiences with us, including some of the good/bad things that resulted.
2. What other provocative and topical issues in project management do you currently engage in? Or what issues do you think will be a big part of project management development in the future?
