Summary
In this lesson, we completed our 10-step journey through a simple project methodology, and covered these steps: - Step 6: Execution(doing the actual work in the project).
- Step 7: Monitoring (checking progress or lackthereof; comparing realty against the plan and the baselines).
- Step 8: Work Completeness Check (verifying that work is being completed).
- Step 9: Lessons learned (articulating in a document or series of documents the things you and your team learned during the project).
- Steo 10: Closeout (formally closing the project and giving everyone -- including yourself -- a pat on the back!).
Let's also remember that this 10-step methdology is based primarily on James P. Lewis' Lewis Method, which is elaborated upon in his book The Project Manager's Desk Reference. We have also drawn on the Project Management Institute's PMBOK to fortify this simple, illustrative project management methodology.
Questions for Consideration: 1. Now that we've looked at all 10-steps in this methodology, which one do you feel is the most challenging for a Project Manager? And why? 2. Do you think that there should be additional steps in this methodology? Why, or why not?
