Summary
In this lesson, we ventured through five critical steps in our simple project methodology, including: - Step 1: The idea (what would you like to do?)
- Step 2: Strategic development (how would you like to approach the project?)
- Step 3: Evaluation (is this the best way to approach the project?)
- Step 4: Planning (how are you specifically going to achieve the project goal(s)?)
- Step 5: Assessment (how are you doing?)
In our next lesson, we'll hit the ground running with our 6th through 10th step.
Questions for Consideration 1. James P. Lewis suggests that a lot of projects do not spend enough time in Step 1 (the idea), but instead rush straight to Step 4 (planning). Why do you think this happens? 2. Steps 1 through 5 involve a lot of communication and negotiation. Can you think of some of the obstacles that a Project Manager needs to overcome in order to move the project along its methodological path?
