Lesson 2: Fundamental Project Concepts: Part 1

In this lesson, we'll look at the basic elements that make up a typical project.

Welcome!

In our first lesson, we started to build our foundation for understanding project management by looking at the basic definition of a project. Standing upon this solid base, we can now launch ourselves into this lesson with a discussion of the basic elements and concepts of project management.

Before we do that, though...

We should keep in mind (maybe not in the front of your mind, but off to the side somewhere) that the elements we cover here do not represent all of the kinds of things that you'll find in a project. However, these are the basics, and if you find yourself working in a project world where most of these things are present, then you're going to have more good professional days during that project than bad ones.

Our second lesson together will therefore look at the following project elements and concepts:

  • Project Management

  • Project Processes

  • Project Life Cycles

  • Project Management Systems

Let's roll!
