Lesson 1: What is a Project?
Summary
From our definitions of the word project, we have plucked out three key ideas that we need to file away in our permanent memories: - A project is temporary.
- A project is unique.
- A project is the result of a multi-task job that performs something specific (i.e. a goal). It is progressive elaborated.
Now that we've got this rolling through our heads (and, in my humble opinion, know more at this early stage about project management than a lot of people who are paid to be Project Managers), let's look at some questions for consideration.
Questions for Consideration:
1. Do you believe that the three criteria we have identified are sufficent? Would you change them? Would you add more, or less? Why? 2. Based on your experiences, what is your definition of a project? Is it similar to what we have covered here? Which one is more complete, and why?
