Painting the Foreground - Acrylics with Fabric Medium
Remember to mix your acrylic color 1:1 with the fabric medium. This will give you the same color as the original, untreated paint - but it will be more transparent than it was in its original state. And since it doesn't sink into the fabric as well, even with the fabric medium, as do paints intended for fabric, I would only use these if you have made an extensive investment in them and don't want to make a similar investment in textile paint. Use them to decide whether this is a craft you want to continue with and then slowly, if you enjoy it, build up your selection of fabric paint. The feel you get from acrylics is somewhat stiff, even with the medium. It may not be as durable if the item goes through a lot of laundries. But it's excellent for getting started, or to use in small amounts when you need a certain color and the crafts stores are closed. Just remember that the rules and hints given for the other two types of paint will apply to these once they have been mixed with fabric medium.
