Embossing on foil
Paper is not the only material that works well with embossing techniques. Try using thin sheets of foil instead. Any method described above will work - and you can create something extremely intricate by combining negative and positive embossing. Actually, you can emboss foil more easily than paper if you use that foam or mouse pad. All you need to do is take a good line drawing and lay it on top of your foil, and then take the stylus to trace the lines. Use the fine end for small details and the thicker end for heavier lines. Use a glue gun to attach this foil piece to a card made from handmade paper for an elegant effect. Get a bit fancy and back the foil with a slightly larger sheet of deep colored paper, and then glue both to a card. The foil won't stick without a glue gun, but a regular glue stick will work for adhering paper to paper. You could make a relatively large picture, suitable for framing if you can find a good line drawing to trace.
