Lesson 8: Using Stencils with PaperMultiple Overlay EmbossingMultiple overlay embossing works much like flipping the vellum did to create both negative and positive areas on your project. You will need small bits of masking tape (low-tack) to place under the registration holes without marking your paper. Mark the position of the first overlay on both sides of the paper. Then decide which areas need to be raised and which should be concave. First emboss the raised areas. Now remove the stencil and reposition it on the other side of the paper, so that you can emboss the concave areas on that reverse side. If you are adding color, you may want to color each overlay as you work on it. Then position the second stencil and repeat the process. Of course if you are into rubber stamping and heat embossing you can combine that with dry embossing for some more interesting effects. The projects at Craftworks combines negative and positive embossing with heat embossing. |
