Lesson 8: King or Parliament?

Introduction

In this lesson we will examine the possible reasons and influences which were used by the citizens to decide which side to support.

We will see contemporary writing and be able to start to gain our own individual view of events. By this time, you will have been through many of the experiences of a 17th century person and will have begun forming your own thoughts, ideas and views.

For myself, there are four phases during when someone may question their support of one party or give/amend that support:

  • The period before The Bishop's Wars

  • The Period after The Bishop's Wars, 1641 up to the beginning of the war.

  • During the English Civil War itself

  • After the English Civil War

I sincerely hope you thought the course worthwhile and beneficial and I hope it has helped you understand the fascinating conflict which arose in the 17th century. I hope to bring out a new course which describes the war its self. Thank you.
