Lesson 3: NASCAR's Racetracks

This lesson covers the racetracks that are used for competition in NASCAR's top three divisions. You’ll find that different tracks are used in different series. Some of the tracks are used all three of NASCAR’s top series, and some are used just two of the series, while there are tracks that are only used in one series.

Nextel Cup Series Tracks

Atlanta Motor Speedway --- 1.54 mile quad-oval at Hampton, Georgia

Bristol Motor Speedway --- .533 mile oval at Bristol, tennessee

California Speedway --- 2 mile tri-oval at Fontana, California

Chicagoland Speedway --- 1.5 mile tri-oval at Joliet, Illinois

Darlington Raceway --- 1.366 mile egg shaped oval at Darlington, South Carolina

Daytona International Speedway --- 2.5 mile tri-oval at Daytona Beach, Florida

Dover International Speedway --- 1 mile oval at Dover, Delaware

Homestead/Miami Speedway --- 1.5 mile oval at Homestead, Florida

Indianapolis Motor Speedway --- 2.5 mile quad-oval at Indianapolis, Indiana

Infineon Raceway --- 1.95 mile 11 turn road course at Sonoma, California (formerly Sears Point Raceway)

Kansas Speedway --- 1.5 mile tri-oval at Kansas City, Kansas

Las Vegas Motor Speedway --- 1.5 mile tri-oval at Las Vegas, Nevada

Lowe's Motor Speedway --- 1.5 mile tri-oval at Concord, North Carolina (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway)

Martinsville Speedway --- .526 mile paperclip shaped oval at Martinsville, Virginia

Michigan International Speedway --- 2 mile D-shaped oval at Brooklyn, Michigan

New Hampshire International Speedway --- 1.058 mile paperclip shaped oval at Loudon, New Hampshire

North Carolina Speedway --- 1.017 mile D-shaped oval at Rockingham, North Carolina

Phoenix International Raceway --- 1 mile D-shaped oval at Phoenix, Arizona

Pocono Raceway --- 2.5 mile traingle at Long Pond, Pennsylvania

Richmond International Raceway --- .750 mile D-shaped oval at Richmond, Virginia

Talladega Superspeedway --- 2.66 mile tri-oval at Talladega, Alabama

Texas Motor Speedway --- 1.5 mile quad-oval at Fort Worth, Texas

Watkins Glen International --- 2.5 mile 11 turn road course at Watkins Glen, New York
