Objectivism 101

By Francois Tremblay

Lesson 6: Individual Rights and the State

The next two lessons will treat of politics. This lesson discusses the theoretical basis for individual rights, and their alternatives.

Introduction

Having reviewed ethics, we now proceed to the last branch of this course : politics. We will examine the theoretical basis for individual rights and compare them to the alternatives.

The reference book for these last two lessons is Capitalism : The Unknown Ideal, by Ayn Rand. For those who do not have this book but have O:PAR, the subject of this lesson is covered extensively in chapters 10 and 11.
