Objectivism 101
By Francois TremblayLesson 5: Living in Society
We end our tour of ethics by examining man's ethical principles in dealing with other men.
Introduction
As we have seen, egoism is seen by its opponents as an ideology which is hostile to a peaceful society. Since they think egoists are bound to their whims of destruction of others, they associate any philosophy of the self with criminality, anarchy and destruction.
This lesson discusses why an Objectivist should, on the contrary, follow principles of benevolence and tolerance when dealing with others. We will also define and explore a number of concepts related to living in society, including justice, sanction, and emergencies.
