Lesson 7: Follow up

Points to Ponder

How did you develop your “Track Record”. You may find using the Table feature of any word processor the easiest – just add as many columns as you think you might need.

Another way that might work for you is to keep a page for each resume you send out - that way you never run out of space to record those helpful hints you learn day by day.

Ready to try a cold call? If you have some business associates that might be willing to help, ask if you can call up a colleague of theirs and try your cold call routine – it would take approximately five minutes of their time. This is a good way to ease into the cold call routines.

As a volunteer at various organizations, there are often cold calls that must be made, either for donations, or sales of some sort, or setting up meetings. By volunteering to do this, you’ll get the practice you need without the personal feeling of rejection. At a center I used to train at, I would often volunteer to do the cold calls of trying to drum up memberships – this helped me to gear up and get into the mood (if that’s possible) of doing my own cold calls.
