Job SearchesLesson 2: Now Do It!To Template or Not TemplateTemplates are pre-designed forms that allow you to “fill in the blanks or missing info”. They are great for faxes, and are often used for resumes. Advantages are ease of use, and not having to create from scratch, especially if you are not too handy at a computer. Disadvantages are that your resume may end up looking like a few hundred others – NOT a good thing when you are trying to stand out from the crowd. My pet peeve are those who use a template BUT DON’T GET RID of the “template info” (place your name here, etc.) This goes for any template, not just one for resumes. Do I recommend a Template – sure, especially if it helps you get started. Change it to suit you, and remember to get rid of the Template info. The best argument on Templates I’ve ever found is in Dummies – pg 46 – READ IT, especially the last paragraph, and follow it.
