Homework
- Find a time to spend with yourself each day. Maybe in the beginning it will just be 10 minutes. Work up from there. The hardest part is taking that first step and knowing that we can make some different choices.
- Become aware of your behavioral patterns. Take a piece of paper and make three columns. At the end of the day, reflect on those times when you felt you “lost it”. Write down the emotion (anger, hopelessness, sad, anxious, fearful, depressed, etc.). In the next column, write down the thoughts that accompanied that emotion. In the last column, write a more positive thought that could alter that emotion. There is a correlation between our thoughts, our emotions and our behaviors. Change occurs when we alter our thoughts or our behaviors. Our emotions will then align themselves with them.
- Plan a “date” with your partner. Talk about what you are experiencing and that you want to work together to make more positive changes in the home. Express your love for each other and desire to work together. Plan some future “dates”.
