South Island Fishing

Both freshwater and saltwater fishing opportunities are abound. Sport fishing is rated as one of the best in the world. The coastal waters offer salmon, cod, halibut, red snapper, crab, shrimp, clams, oysters and prawns. One of the best ways to go fishing in the saltwater is to book a charter. The guides have fully equipped boats and they know where the fish are running. Freshwater fishing is available in a multitude of rivers and lakes. These waters offer coho. chinook, trout, and steelhead. Many charters and lodges will prepare the "lucky catch" for shipment.
