Lesson 6: Recreation

Kayaking/Canoeing

One of the best ways to see remote islands, hidden inlets and isolated coastline communities is in a kayak or canoe. The non-obtrusive nature of paddling allows participant to see marine life such as dolphins, whales, seals, and otters up close. Freshwater kayaking is also popular. Exploring inland lakes and rivers is leisurely, except for people who want to try whitewater rapids. Canoes and kayaks are readily available for rent at almost every location where paddling is done. Many rental outlets offer lessons.
