Coastal BC Surfing

The appeal of surfing on Vancouver Island is the lack of crowds. There are many remote beaches and great waves. Summer is the most popular time of year for surfing and the best places are around the towns of Ucluelet and Tofino on the Island’s west coast. In the winter, the beaches between Sooke and Port Renfrew on the south coast are popular. Many of these prime surfing locations have shops where visitors can rent wetsuits and boards. There are even lessons available for people who have never tried this sport.
