Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking Adventures
This is a popular sport on the Island due to the numerous trails and back roads. The BC Forest Renewal program has been upgrading old logging roads into biking trails. Most of the logging was done in the mountains so the terrain is very rugged. Not all trails are difficult, there are some parts of the Galloping Goose Trail which has some easy grades in sections and is paved. The best mountain trails are Mount Work in Saanich, the Millstream Highlands near Goldstream Provincial Park, and Roche Cove Regional Park in Sooke. With the mild climate, mountain biking can be done all year round.
