Victoria BC TourismLesson 5: Parks & BeachesMetchosin Witty’s Lagoon Regional Park Albert Head Lagoon Park Delgada Road This small park is a bird sanctuary and wildlife refuge. The lagoon is the best place to view the wildlife. Visitors will also enjoy exploring the pebbled beach or sunbathing. There is a great view of Victoria, Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains in Washington State. Nearby is Albert Head, which is a National Defence base. Devonian Regional Park William head Road Not far west of Witty's Lagoon is this shoreline park. The forested trails lead down to Parry Bay where there is a cobble beach for exploring. Migratory birds stop over at Sherwood Pond and many shorebirds congregate at the beach. There are numerous trails for hiking and horseback riding, plus a picnic area. When the tide is out, there is beach access to Witty's Lagoon. Matheson Lake Provincial Park Matheson Lake Park Rd (off Rocky Point Rd) Set at the foot of Mount Matheson, this park offers hiking trails through lush forest. There is supervised swimming, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking on freshwater Matheson Lake. The park is connected to Roche Cove Regional Park through a trail. Visitors enjoy swimming, fishing, beach combing and sunbathing. The Galloping Goose trails goes through this area and it's popular for jogging, cycling and hiking.
