Sooke Region Museum and Visitor Infocentre

The Sooke Region Historical Society operates this museum which showcases the history and environment of the West Coast people. Displays cover the early beginnings with the aboriginal people up to present day. There are artifacts and pictures dealing with farming, fishing, logging and trapping. There is an art gallery featuring the works of local artist and the gift shop has crafts that are made by local artisans plus a selection of books. On the grounds of the museum, there are several restored buildings, a steam engine, a shipwreck, and artifacts from various industries. There are two short movies about Sooke shown throughout the day.
