Victoria BC TourismLesson 3: AttractionsEsquimalt Point Ellice House Naval and Military Museum of B.C. Admirals Road This museum shows the history of this Royal Canadian Navy Base from its beginning as a coastal defense unit up to modern times. Some of the exhibits include West Coast Defense, the history of the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Women's Army & Navy Corps plus thousands of pictures and archived documents relating to the Canadian Navy. Craigflower Manor and Schoolhouse Craigflower Road (Old Island Highway 1A) & Admirals Road This was originally a Hudson's Bay Company farm and was one of the first ones established on Vancouver Island circa mid-1800s. Kenneth McKenzie oversaw the construction of this settlement. The manor house is still standing and inside is exhibits and personal effects of the McKenzie family. Across a bridge is the original schoolhouse. The newest exhibit is an operating blacksmith shop with a hand forge. Live demonstrations are given only on certain days. Anne Hathaway’s Cottage 429 Lampson St, at the Olde English Inn This is replica of the thatched cottage where Anne Hathaway was born. She was the wife of William Shakespeare. The cottage contains antiques from the 16th and 17th century. At this same site, is an authentic English Village where visitors can browse through the Olde Curiosity Shoppe and stop off for a pint at the pub.
