Lesson 2: About Victoria and District Municipalities

Sidney

Situated between North Saanich and Central Saanich, is Sidney-by-the-Sea, which is an appropriate named for this seaside resort. Located on the eastern shore of the Saanich Peninsula, it is a popular tourist destination due to close proximity to the BC Ferries and Airport.

This small town is primarily residential and retail, with marine-related industries. The shoreline walk is a favourite past time where visitors can look over to the San Juan Islands in Washington State. There are no big shopping centres but there are many distinctive shops on the main street, especially book stores. Many recreational facilities are nearby.
