Lesson 1: Before You Leave Home

Clothing

British Columbia experiences the four seasons, but the Islands experience milder winters. At this time of year, the weather is rainy with the occasional snowfall. You will need a winter jacket for this season and it may be a good idea to bring boots and gloves.

The summers range from warm to hot, but the nights can get cool. A light jacket or a sweater is handy for the evenings or during a rainy day. You can bring a combination of summer clothing and a few items of spring clothing.

The spring and autumn can be both warm and cool. There can be cool periods where you may need a winter jacket and warmer periods where a light jacket may be fine. It is best to bring a heavy jacket for evenings (and inclement days) and a light jacket for daytime.
