Leisure Reading 101

Lesson 5: Loving Literature And Sharing It With Others

Learn an effective way to acquire members

Perform these steps to secure potential members.

1. You must have a great attitude about reading. Say it with a smile and knock them out with your enthusiasm.

2. Design press releases to pass out to potential members. How to do this? Simple. Use selective colors and fonts to entice the potential member. Come up with a bold heading of the book club name and underneath that put your club theme. For example, the book club that loves reading Australian poetry might indicate underneath the book club name “Come join in the fun in the outback of reading poetry.”

Also provide the dates and times of the next scheduled meetings and the title you are reading. This will provide the potential member the scope if they can commit or not.

3. Mail out your press releases to potential members with an invitation for them to come sit in on one of your book club meetings.

4. Advertise in the local paper.
