Lesson 4: Succeeding With Retention

The value of different viewpoints

Here you will outline what you have done in the previous exercise “Bringing the author’s message to light.” Reading different viewpoints is a rewarding exercise because it expands your mind to a new way of thinking about the subject matter. Although you thought you understood the contents another way, the author has transformed your viewpoint to see things another light. You will either agree or disagree with this. The pleasure of debating is proving why you disagree and the reasons to support it.

When you read over the notes you made in the previous exercise, provide three points, no more than 50 words each, in support of your position, either in agreement or not. This will provide both viewpoints and show why the viewpoints exist. Try not to be opinionated - although it is hard not to be - but provide concrete reasons.
