Lesson 2: Ultimate Love Affair With Words

The value of Poetry

Words forming a beautiful expression of self are extraordinary to behold, and I often marvel at the many talented poets who accomplish this task. The value of poetry is in releasing a part of one’s self and sharing it with others, without fear of losing ground or self, for the power of the soul is protecting the poet. Poetry has the means of relaying a message in 250 words or more to open up your heart and listen to the birds that are singing above, near heaven.

Let's do an exercise.

Here is a poem from me that I was moved to write by an influential poet’s poem. This poem will allow you to reflect on the creativity of unique expression: :

"Roses are a rare beauty against the moonlight rays. Violets are to behold when your heart falls in love. Each time a word is spoken let it be of truth to the token Of your heart's desire, allowing the heavens to bring rain drops of blessing to the two of you. Live each day as though it was your last. Sing the glory of your true Heart and soul to bring joy and laughter. And this will be a happy day to always remember...loving someone is living"

Let's do another exercise.

Exercise Two:

Let's take another look at some fascinating examples of the art form and the value of poetry. Here I have selected a talented author, the editor of American Poetry at Suite101.com:

Linda Sue Grimes

Read her exciting review of a very influential poet at her topic.
