DepressionLesson 8: The Science of DepressionConclusionThis ends our Coping with Depression course. I hope now you have a better understanding of the illness, and how to better manage and cope with it. As I said in the first lesson, it is my fervent belief that knowledge is a necessity in the battle against mental illness. Accordingly, I urge you to continue with your education. You may want to start with my Suite101.com Depression topic (look under Resources) and branch out from there. There are many excellent books on depression, and you can learn a lot by attending mental health conferences, such as the ones NAMI and the National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association host each year. I urge you to take what you've learned in this course and start applying it in a realistic fashion that does not set you up for failure. Many thanks for allowing me to share this part of your journey with you. All the best John McManamy
