Where do We Go From Here?

There is no denying that living with chronic illness and pain can be discouraging and at times downright depressing. But we want and need some quality of life and must do whatever we can to make sure that we have it.

While some of us are lucky and are able to work, others have had to give up jobs and may feel useless. For others it's the less than sparkling house coupled with constant fatigue. Some may fear that the fibrofog that they experience is really the onset of Alzheimer's. And many of us feel that it's no use going to the doctor because nothing brings us back to normal - to our old selves. And we will always run into people who simply don't understand that you can look fine and yet be suffering.

We have to face the fact that we probably won't get back to being the self that existed before fibro. And then we need to move on, to do the best we can for ourselves. We need to keep up with current research to see what the latest findings are, and if anyone is closer to finding a cause or a cure. And we need to constantly keep educating ourselves and monitoring ourselves so that we are aware of changes within ourselves that may be symptoms of other problems. If we keep active in managing our fibro, and keep abreast of new findings we'll not only stay happier but have the satisfaction of taking a proactive role in making our lives productive. This lesson will give us pointers on how to accomplish this.
