Jewish Practices
The Jewish Practices sub-section is one of our most popular areas of interest, and explores the ways that Jews practice Judaism: the traditions behind holy day observance and other traditions, and the halacha or laws that determine how Jews developed those customs. Topics range from the contemporary traditions surrounding the Shavuot holiday to why Jews light the hanukkiah in public each Hanukkah.
We have also included some articles on new developments in Jewish observance, such as the impact of the bicentennial of the Reform movement (2010), and the controversial tradition of redeeming captives, which directly affected the negotiations for Gilad Shalit in 2011.
Please let me know if there are Jewish practices you would like included in this section. I welcome the feedback!
