Georgian/Victorian Britain
An age of rapid change, the period from 1714-1901 saw the birth of the Industrial Revolution and the growth of the British Empire as the constitutional bond uniting the constituent countries of the British Isles evolved. Within Britain, the development of scientific, political and social thinking ran on apace.
Entrepreneurial figures such as James Watt and Abraham Darby, alongside philanthropists such as Robert Owen and Lord Shaftesbury, may truly be said to have changed the word. And even in its frivolities, with its highly -developed social structures and dominant class system, Victorian and Georgian Britain remains a subject of fascination.
