Thanks for your input Richard, but you sound like you are discouraging people from writing fiction. Yes it is much harder to get published, but it can be done--- if you persist. I've personally had two short stories published and have just had a third accepted for publication which will be out in an anthology this Fall. Most fiction writers write because they have stories to tell and because they love telling stories. Nonfiction won't satisfy that desire to tell stories, so I say press on. Read a lot of fiction, consult good writing books and write because you believe in the wonder of your stories.

Congrats on your success as a nonfiction writer Richard, but don't give up on fiction! It feeds the imagination and the soul.
